Yogology is committed to reducing occupational and workplace stress, providing comprehensive stress management and health & fitness programs to workplaces in the Hunter.
Regular practice of yoga, even only once weekly, quickly delivers a wide range of benefits, including a dramatic increase in the sense of wellbeing, particularly in the areas of back and neck care, in stress related disorders and in alleviating or even subverting Occupational Overuse Syndrome (Repetitive Strain Injury).
Sessions provide an integrated approach using both traditional and modern yoga techniques relevant to OH&S. The hour long classes are conveniently held at the workplace at any time that suits, either before, during or after work hours. All equipment is supplied.
Courses are generally run in ten week blocks, followed by a program review. Program fees are usually paid for by management or through OH&S funding. The outlay is quickly recovered through reduced absenteeism, reduced compensation claims and improved productivity.
Back pain is the single greatest cause of lost work time in Australia. In fact neck and back pain account for more than half the sum total of workers compensation payments. The 10% or so of patients who suffer chronic back pain in Australia account for nearly 75% of all rehabilitation and compensation payments. The social costs cannot be estimated!
Yogology's appropriately applied yoga techniques work with posture and proper alignment, as well as the development of foundational strength & support. The result is an increased awareness of how we habitually use or misuse our bodies, helping to break and replace old and often negative patterns. Our programs are highly effective preventatives that provide permanent solutions for eradicating or managing existing pain.
Medical research and statistical data have consistently shown that people who exercise regularly cope much better with negative stress. However, most types of exercise can leave the body feeling fatigued and depleted, with varying levels of "wear and tear". Yoga postures, on the other hand, are physically vitalizing and rejuvenating. They also sharpen mental faculties. The physical aspects of yoga also work on even deeper levels, fine tuning the nervous system, inducing calming nerve impulses to the brain, and by toning the endocrine glands, the hormonal producing glands which impact heavily on mood and emotion.
Every thought, every movement, in fact all the functions of our minds and bodies are fueled by the breath! Moreover medical science around the globe is discovering and therapeutically implementing what yogis have known for millennia, that the breath is the bridging medium between the conscious and the more subtle dimensions of mind: a powerful tool in mood and stress management.
As well as retraining the pulmonary cavity for more relaxed and efficient breathing, enhancing concentration and overall well being, yogic breathing techniques have proven to be excellent on-the-spot stress management tools. Yogic breathing quickly subverts negative emotional responses and restores more rational and objective thought patterns.
Why only manage stress? Our students are equipped with practices that will even subvert stress, uprooting its very cause. Why is it that two people performing the very same tasks can experience completely different attitudinal results? It is not the activity itself, but the approach of the individual that causes stress.
The systematic meditation techniques taught by Yogology nurture a positive outlook, facilitating a refreshed and broadened perspective. A happy worker is not only more cheerful, but also more focused and productive!
Often meditation is taught whimsically and unscientifically, playing on sentiment rather than focusing on tangible results. Let our experience guide your staff to a more focused and productive future!
